I
started doing web design work as a hobby around 1997,
using the old GeoCities and Angelfire templates but
I quickly graduated to Microsoft Front Page and later
took a series of college classes in all the magical
offerings of Macromedia web design products. Like many
amateur web designers back in the day, my name quickly
became known as a local "go-to" person for
questions about that newfangled internet thing. We started
out with a couple of small contract jobs, then graduated
to some rather large projects in our first two years
of officially being in the website business.
My
initial training was classroom based (the Marcomedia
stuff has a steep learning curve, in my humble opinion,
but it provides such an awesome finished product), but
the majority of my learning has been "hands-on",
actually building websites for clients. Website design
is a constantly evolving field of study, and I try to
stay current on the latest trends, add-ons, and design
software, along with the whole look and feel of what
customers want in a contemporary, functional business
website.
